Rhino Lip - anyone tried it?

Hi All!

Anyone tried using Rhino Lip? - I've got a MY2014 ES and I was originally going to put on a pair of VRX 'pods' on the bottom of the front bar, but I'm going off the idea as they look a bit 'obvious'...

I saw the EZ-Lip and after a bit of a dig around it appears it's too soft to stand any wear - the Rhino Lip is stiffer and apparently can be painted - I was wondering if anyone has any first-hand experience with it.

Just FYR, this is what the bottom of my ES looks like - it's kinda 'half-podded' already:

All of those quick universal lip kits are just weather stripping form a garage door and some double sided tape, they have actually been around for a while. If you wanted to go this path you can get them from burnings for a LOT cheaper, you just need to look for one with the right shape for what you need.

I notice a few of them say you can paint them, I don't know how hold they would hold up, they are stiffer yes, but they are still flexible because they have to be in order for them to be universal. If you wanted something you want to paint, you are better off getting a proper lip.

Can't get a lip/splitter to suit mine... only for pre-2012!

I know what you mean about the rubber door seal, but the Rhino Lip is altogether different - have a look at this:

Looking at that video, you can tell by the shape that it's still a form of weather stripping. They come in all types, some are a foam rubber, some stiff rubber and some a very stiff plastic.

I have installed a Rhino Lip on my CJ back in the Philippines, though haven't seen an actual EZ-Lip, but so far the Rhino is indeed stiff and flexible.. I dont know about painting it if how it will look, but I'm satisfied on how it turns out on my CJ.. It came practical for me compared to a more expensive lip..

See my CJ below..

Don't know if your car could have the vrx attachments added anyway as your lancer has the RA style bumper 2013 models get

Not all 2013 models get a RA bumper, dont know how people started to think they do? My 2013 doesnt have a RA bumper and neither does Martins. Mitsubishi are making a run of base lancers with RA body kits but they are all the CVT models i believe.

i like the ezlip/rhino lip it looks good on alot of cars espcially the mazdas. but because the lancers have a very rounded lower front bar it looks very plain

@kirtis: - thanks for that, I'll have to swing past Bunnings and have a look...

@christian - thanks for the photos - nice-looking car! :-)

@sam: - I figured I'd put it on as the VRX 'pods' may not work - I'll post pics when I get it done

@kalum: - I hear ya! - it's a bit of a pain with the later models, but you just gotta be creative!

@Akram: - same!

@chris: - agree!

Thanks everyone!
