In the ES, my dome light I believe has a constant 12v and a switched negative so this may be something to bear in mind.

As for what sort of light, I have no idea... might be worth a trip to the wreckers and look around some cars till you find some that suit...

why would they have it as a switched negative? thats just a stupid way to do things. no to mention it can waist power even when its off.

Are you sure you're a sparky Blake? You should know that without a return path, no current flows therefore no drain on the battery ;) A voltage will still be present though, of course.

Dude... I've been in the game for 6 years now and I still remember my first TAFE block back in August 2004. Remember the teacher's names, room was in and the subjects taught :P hahaha

Anyway,back on topic now lads.

I understand bits. If I wire my new rear lights replacing the rear room light(which I dont have), I believe they will work?

hmm wow lzy-eye was right they do switch the neutral. thats just odd. i was always taught to switch the positive. but i guess i got that from AC not DC. lol my head is a mess from working in HV lol.

but then looking at the switch i see why they did it. when the door is shut the power goes throught the negative wire then when the doors are open it go's to always on as it straight to the body.

anyway yer just splice straight in to the center light. and it will work out fine just dont use luxon LED's as for them to dim you require a dimming circuit along with there driver unit.

Yes Blakey that what I plan to do. I will splice new positives into the R(red) wire on map lights and return wire spliced into the Y(yellow) and then earth the on switch.

Blakey you are not correct ;) you can't hook it up to the door switches. The ETACS ECU turns the lights on and off, does not go via the door switches at all. The ETACS acts as a relay, recieveing a signal that a door is open, so it turns on the light.

Ok, if you pull out your map lights., there are 3 wires. Red, Yellow and Black.

Connect the Positive of your LED Lights to the Red and the Negative to the Yellow Wire.

They will now come on with the doors.

LOL, I just beat you to it. Do I have earth on swiches, so I can turn on individually? Does it matter if I use normal 12v light? I have not found a light yet?
