door and dash vinyl trim

Postby lukeaday » Fri Dec 04, 2009 8:38 am

Thought I might colour code some interior parts but didn't want to dismantle anything so i made up a cutting file and decorated the thin beveled edge on the dark grey metallic trim on the doors and dash.

I painted some vinyl with 2 pac the same colour as the car (P26 red)

Just enough to spice up the interior me thinks!

Looks good man. I keep trying to think of ideas on ways to personalise those trim pieces

That's a good idea, I like it, and the best part is that it's always reversable

How did you get the "Lancer" under it though?

I can paint any colour onto vinyl. I use Avery 900 series which the good stuff.

The lancer logo I cut out on my vinyl cutter out of avery 900 gloss black.

I'd have to go with some colour other then the exterior body colour for that to work on 'Max'.

Dunno. I have to rework the vinyl dash trim as it is slightly to narrow and doesn't quite cover the beveled edge.

When I get it right I can try a few different colours for you guys to see if you like.

Common colours I have would be
Silver, Black and White.

I had ago at doing this today, got all the bits last week but finally had time to do it today. I used pinstripe vinyl instead, 3mm and in red. Came out really good. Its a bitch of a thing to get it to go around curves though...

The stripes I have are cut to the same shape as the door and dash trim so no stretching or bending the vinyl.

How much would you charge someone for that?

Would like some red for my car. Also the Lancer symbol too...

I could imagine it would also look good if it was 90% the size of the trim and placed centrally, leaving the natural finish as a border...
