Tell it to connect using the tactrix
It goes green on screen when connected on laptop
Type new odometer
Send
Done

There is a vin changer in thcoding writer for ecu Etacs
Can't remember if there was one for the instrument cluster.
Having said that
My ASX cluster was new old stock and the it has never had an issue with the vin, I don't ever recall having to set it in the instrument cluster and yet seen a lot of hoo Har that it needs to be set of errors happen
Apparently
Never had that issue
Have done a few clusters for clients and had zero issues as well

Can u tell me where i might find a copy of mmcoding writer

Cheers

Grab an Evo X cluster and have a look at the plug / pinout on the rear
I'm betting it's the same and should bolt in to the lancer
No need to recalibrate
Just need to adjust the odometer to match the old one and your cooking with gas.

Think that will be easier if compare to getting colour Evo X cluster with KM odometer

Here's an example of a VIN mismatch where a CY sportback cluster was placed in a CX sedan. I don't know if its gonna cause any issues but it is visible if a dealer does any diagnostics on the cluster.

If it was going to cause any issues mine would have done it a few years ago

I installed windows 10 and tried out MMCodingWriter 2.0 connected it up and had a look at the Section to do with the cluster, Mine doesnt have an option to change the odometer value. Does this only come up when there is a different vin number? I'm checking it out as I want to get a colour dash for my wifes car and want the odometer value spot on. I tried this on my car (Evo X).

Also on different note how do you change the ETACS stuff within MMCoding Writer?

I have a number of old version of it as well as a few test version. I'm sure it did it.

To chance ETACS with it, you connect to the ETACS and then save the .KON file it creates
There is another program you use to edit the .KON file
Then save the modification file
Then use mmcoding writer to upload the modified .Kon file to the ETACS box

This may interest you as well it will let you modify ETACS but you need to pay for it
https://etacsdecoder.com/
However, mmcoding writer does it for nix, have modified a few lancers with it with zero issues

Once you saved the .KON file of the ETACS ROM with mmcoding writer , Modify the .Kon file with MUT coding Mitsubishi

Your welcome

I have used ETACS decoder but don't like how they have changed to a more subscription based program. Do you have the older versions of MMCoding I might try it and see if it allows odometer change. Someone asked the exact question on the Facebook forum for MMCoding and the answer was no. So maybe it only works with new odometers.

Yes i have been told that this option cannot be changed

I would be very interested to see if any older versions of MMcoding will let u change the Odometer settings

Cheers

Don't bother wasting your money. This is something you don't want to skimp on. Buy a genuine unit. Good chance you will have issues when flashing the ECU.
After you have done a bad write to the ECU you can build a cable to repair it with using a wiring harness from an old lancer.good luck finding a wrecking yard to will let you cut the wiring harness to bits. I spoke to a number of them before I found who who would. Most want to sell you the full wiring harness for over $1000
Go hunting online and you should find genuine Tactrix for approximately $300.
