Rear Deck Carpet

Postby Lancer1993 » Mon Mar 28, 2016 4:22 pm

Anyone have a pattern of the rear deck, I've seen some carpets on eBay but really how hard is it to make something that can easily be removed?

Something like this...
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/161995466405 ... EBIDX%3AIT

Only other option I can see is getting some suitable carpet and trimming it bit by bit until I get the right shape then get the edge finished.

Anyone done this work or know of a local supplier at a lower price?

You made a boot mat didn't you? Couldn't be any more difficult :)

I've considered using some of the same stuff but not sure if it will edge well, might need to ask an upholstery place I know. I don't want to glue it in place and you only see the edge when the seats are down.

i think that is the only parcel shelf mat
to build it yourself you would need thick carpet and to sow on an edge
carpet might be hard to come by

Carpet shouldn't be hard to find, it's just a matter of getting something that won't fade in 5 minutes.

How hard is it to flock the parcel shelf?

Made my own. Clark Rubber have black car carpet molded rear ideal for this no need to stitch edges as no fraying of edges etc .

Used news paper to make template, used that to make corrugated card board template and trim for better fit. Left excess at front edge folded down to stabilize carpet in position, with holes cut in for access for seat back locks.

Checked airflow with air-conditioned on high both, recirculation and from exterior seemed fine so didn't bother to cut holes at rear for air circulation.

What air vents/holes?

Thanks for the heads up, does it have a name or just ask for 'black car carpet'?

There's a ClubCJ youtube video available, doesn't look too difficult. They completely remove the rear seats but it looks to me like folding them down should give you access to what you need.

Not 100% sure but it looks like just a few clips hold it in place.

Might put this on the back burner until after the trip south, don't plan on storing anything up there as it's not safe in an accident.

Why take the rear deck off ? Just left it in place and drew the paper template over the top of the deck with the deck where it was.. Bit awkward but easy. Placed paper template on rear deck after cutting it out and made refinements. Then made stiffer cardboard template from paper one, to get more accurate guide and checked fit. Cut carpet to fit and put it over the top of the deck.

Sorry only know it as car carpet. Pop into Clark Rubber and check it out.
