Front Drivers Seat Broken!

Postby R4LLI4RT » Fri Feb 07, 2014 8:04 am

Ok so about a year ago my drivers seat foam began to break (near the right hand side closest to the drivers side door) down to the point where you could feel the metal in it.
took it to my local mitsu dealer and they replaced it. now a a year later and the same thing is happeneing again. does any1 else have this problem or heard of this before. because this is now the second time i have taken it back mitsu dealer needs a rep to come down and inspect it, im not happy because honstly its the small things like this that really pee me off.

yeah but its not like im 130kg or anything.
i think it might be the actual seat or maybe the steel inside might be too sharp.

Interesting, leather or material seats? Do you have a picture of where it is? Might have to check mine haha, I have noticed that mine has an issue at the moment where I set it up to a certain straightness, and after 1-2 days it seems to sing back about 1-2 inches, doesn't seem like a lot but makes me feel like I'm driving gangsta... haha

Good to hear they replaced it, but it is something I have not heard before.

That's interesting.

My drivers seat started to squeak about 3 months after putting lowering springs in my car. But i'm 110kg, so I put it down to added stress on the seat.
I think mine is down to the springs. Would be interesting to find out what has broken in your seat.

ok so update is they are going to fix it again, but this time they are going to use a thicker and dense foam to stop this from happening.
they said they are going to go to a custom upholsterer to get it fixed.
ive never heard of a company using an external company to fix something under warranty.

Repairer replaced the foam in my drivers seat too under warranty. Metal stuck through the bottom RHS back of drivers seat near lumbar controls.

That's exactly the same spot that mine went. I have driven another Lancer (2009 model) since mine was repaired (2012 model) and it just starting to break through the material as well. If you rub your hand firmly over that spot you can feel the metal sticking out of the material. :(
