Rear vision mirror camera

Postby greghains » Fri Jul 19, 2013 10:09 pm

Hi.

The display in the rear vision mirror comes on when the vehicle goes into reverse. Can anybody tell me please how I can turn this screen on manually? I'm assuming there's a switch or the like that I can access.

And in case you are wondering... just because I can (hopefully). No other reason.

Cheers,
Greg

its wired into the reversing gear of the car , its only activated when you place the car in reverse i dont think you can manually switch in on or off

Hi Six420

Thanks for your reply.

Maybe not with an obvious switch, but must be accessible somehow - as it would go through the car's wiring loom.

I assume you're talking about the OEM mirror, chances are it goes through the canbus system on which case there would be no way to manually switch it on.

Hi Zedd82.

Thanks for your reply. What you say makes sense, but do we know for sure? How can I find out?

Wire a 3 way switch in it.

Find the wire that gets the signal from the the reverse gear leaver to to mirror. Cut it in half and wire the switch in it.

Then put on one of the wire that has power when acc is on.

Then one with the OEM wire going to it and the other as the off switch (the other side that you cut in half)

Then you can flick between manual, auto , Off

Hi.

Thanks for the idea - youre quite right - that would work well.

After a lot of to-ing and fro-ing, I managed to get a schematic from Mitsubishi, so if anybody wants it, please find me here.

Cheers,
Greg

This accessory is uncommon in aus, I couldn't find any info in the service manual.
