How to stop subs from moving?

Postby tadz0rz » Wed Apr 15, 2009 7:33 pm

Hey guys just a quick question for the lot of you

As most of you know, ive got a fair serious system in the back of my car. Now, the sub box isnt bolted or secured to the chassis or body in anyway.

But ive noticed that the subs isnt the thing thats moving, its the carpet.

If the subs are on the right place on the carpet, the subs just slide around with the carpet and i can move the carpet back around to where it fits propley and everything.

I find it kinda funny sometimes, when i hit some corners with a bit of speed, i can feel the subs slide and when they hit the side of the boot the car almost flicks lol. not enough to loose it round a corner dont worry lol. Just an interesting feeling xD.

I know it aint the safest thing to have subs that aint bolted down, i duno why they wernt in the first place but anyway.

My subs line up perfectly with that bar that runs accross the top of the boot. That part that sorta drops down with all the little oval holes in it. (you can see it in my signature, that part just above the box) I was thinking i would just get some L brackets from bunnings and just screw it into the frame and then into the sub box.

My other thought was, since the subs dont move on the carpet, the carpet moves around on the boot because of the subs...Maybe i should get some velcro or sumthing and put it under the carpet and secure it to the chassis.

Anyone else have any ideas?

Thanks

I know its not the shortest question, but i like to explain myself fully =)

Bolt it in because those mats are not the best unless you can find some good ones somewhere

Hey! you should see some other learners man, their face is like 2 inches away from the steering wheel and going 40 in an 80 zone.

One of the biggest thing that pisses me off about not just learner drivers but like...un confident drivers is when accelerating and merging onto a freeway.

Im all balls out when hitting the freeway, gun it all the way to the speed limit. But i get stuck behind idiots that stay at like 60-70 all the way up the free way entrance, when the freeway speed is like 100. so any chance i get to get in front of them i do. then i slow down to piss them off xD

Its acutally pretty dangerous driving like that when entering a freeway.

i totally agree with the free way i think everyone should do 100 no matter what licence coz u catch l platers 2 quickly and its dangerous!!!
and if u cant dont do 100 get off

so everyone should be able to do 100 at least on freeways to keep them safe!!!!!!!

Like fair enough some of them arnt as confident as others. Like tadz0rz for example xD. But if their not confedent in their abilities they shouldnt get onto the freeway yet. or any other high traffic zone

EDIT! Oh yeah just reminded me of a stupid as driver i came into one day.

Entrance to the freeway, the part where you merge at the end of the entrance. HE STOPS AND INDECATES! IDIOT!
