Hi all, new CJ owner

Postby xceler8shun » Tue Aug 25, 2009 5:39 pm

Hi all,

Took delivery of my new 09 Lancer Sportsback ES today.

I had all intentions of buying a 2009 Ford Focus hatch on Saturday, but once going for a drive in the Lancer, it was a sealed deal.

Very happy thus far and looking forward to getting on the road and racking up some km's.

Cheers
Xcel

Welcome!!

Glad you chose the CJ over the Focus! They are so out-of-date now. they just keep changing the face, but the rest stays old underneath!

What was the deciding factor? The handling or something else?

Enjoy the site and don't forget to put up pictures!

Welcome to the club!! I was also tossing up between the focus and the lancer when buying my car, but the lancer had such a better presence than the focus did, and its so much more versitle. Its rally bred so you can be assured that your lancer wont fall apart on you lol.

Post up some pics of your sexy new whip when you get a chance!

Welcome to ClubCJ :)

I pretty much bought the CJ without even driving it!!! Went and looked at a Corolla for confirmation and the dealer wouldn't even let me drive a demo!! He made the choice even easier!!

There is heaps on info here, it will keep you going for ages!!!!

A few factors sealed the deal for me.

Salesman wasn't pushy, gave me the keys and let myself and the misses go for a nice long drive. All other salespeople were very clingy and tried to corral me into the finance department to talk numbers, regardless of being told there would be no finance.

Price was good compared with features for other models, done a deal on some aftermarket alloys, window tint, full size spare, full tank of fuel, floor mats in the purchase.

Build quality was a big factor. The interior quality I found was refined and soft in the Lancer with no obvious rough edges or the real "plastic" feel. The Focus however, felt very cheap with a "plastic" feel. I could feel the rough edges under the arm rests inside the car and upon turning the sound system up to a moderate level, all the speakers were shot and rattles.

Another point for the build quality was the ride comfort and drivability. The manual transmission in the Lancer was very smooth and gear changes were very slick as was the handling and road noise. I had quite a bit of trouble in the Focus going from 2nd to 1st or 2nd to 3rd as the gears seemed very close, the brakes were quite loud, although they may not have been run in much and I basically just wasnt happy with the overall ride.

As I will do about 500km's a week, I wanted to be comfortable and happy and from the first impression, know I will be.

Glad to hear your happy with your lancer. also, if there is ANYTHING wrong with your lancer at all, make sure you get mitsubishi to fix it on your 1500km free service. Thats basicly there to make sure theres no 'running in' problems with the car.

When i had my 1500km service, i got them to fix my drivers door, because it was not shutting properly. They fixed that up no problems at all.

So if theres even the slightest thing wrong, get them to fix it. Its a brand new car, theres not meant to be any problems with it

Enjoy your ride man, you will enjoy it heapss!

Btw, im gunna be honest. This site will run your wallet drryyy lol. Plenty of great group buys and discounts lol

To late already blackened the front grill planning on getting it properly done later as well as the rear bumper. Had a Chrysler Lancer but I'm back now and glad of it. Haven't talked to OZIE yet just a card in the side window. So how do I join?
