New Lancer Owner ( 2 Months Old )

Postby Sam101 » Mon Jun 25, 2018 10:29 pm

Hey Everyone, nice to meet you. 22 Year old, uni student, part-time worker. Recently Purchased a new 2017 Mitsubishi Lancer ES Sport Sedan, 6 Speed CVT. Happy with my purchase, but looking to upgrade a few things soon etc. exhaust, air filter kit, RA Air Scoop etc. Anyone with any knowledge please help me out haha.

Good to know a lancer community exists out here in Australia! Live in Sydney, so traffic + the fuzz is a constant battle. So yeah, looking to do a few crucial modifications, nothing too hasty though. Anyone with a similar spec hit me up and let me know if you've done anything so far. Obligatory Photo included. :D

I'm also new on AusLancer, MightcarMods Forums, so I'm bouncing around most of the times looking for help and talking to the peeps!

Btw, Aus Lancer keeps mentioning this Merlin Guru that does 4b11 Engines?? Doesn't it crack the 5 year warranty if Mitsubishi finds out? If not, someone send me his way haha

welcome to the club another Sydney member! from what ive read before 'apparently' Mitsubishi don't read the ECU tune during servicing, warranty wise, I don't think they'd check unless it the warrant is towards the engine in particular, if not they wont look for it!
We are all in it for the fun!

Dealers are or should be equipped with Mitsubishi's top of the range OBD 2 scan equipment $5,00o+ Approx $1000 a year updates that can do damn near everything. But don't expect them to do you any favors !
Last time I queried something and wanted them to check, they wanted me to pay for the check and my car is still under warranty.

Seems only way you could be satisfied with what they do, or don't do, is close your eyes, ears and mouth, at least that's the way, its been for me. Is it Me?

I've been trying to see if they can use it to adjust a few setting but they look at me with a blank face. I just want the auto door lock thing turned on so over say 10kph the doors lock. I don't want auto unlock unless there is an accident.

Yeah the auto lock thing gets me everytime I start driving. TBH it should have been in there in the first place, I don't see a reason why it wasn't included with the electric windows etc. I think Viper alarm systems somehow fix this, but will need to check with them, planning to upgrade the oem alarm soon. Been alot of car thieves in my area recently with break ins.

Hahahah it really does. And here I was pumped to get the maximum amount of flexibility from the lancer. Will be heading to these guys next: https://www.motorsportwiring.com.au/.
Apparently they’ve tuned the newer lancers, will see how it goes.

Just a minor update here. Finally got some weather-shields on. Nice black colour and for $55 too, good quality. StreetElement had them for $75. From CTAutoParts in Wetherill Park, they sell lights and some other stuff for mitsubishi lancers, great people, installation for $10 if your as lazy as I am, and really honest. They deal with mostly aftermarket bodykit stuff, and other brands too like subaru, toyata etc.

Surface was well cleaned with included alcohol wipes and pre-bond primer before the 3M tape on the shields themselves were peeled back.

Now I can crack the windows a bit without worrying about rain/wind hitting my face lol.

For your exhaust I highly recommends a 2.25 inch system. Grab some extractors and get them wrapped before installing them.
