Re: 3rd/Third Gear problem M/T

I went with either Castrol VMX-80 or 75, can't remember exactly. I imported some Redline stuff but it honestly performed pretty crap so I changed back to the castrol stuff.

Edit: Just make sure it's GL-4, as I believe GL-3 contains additives that can damage transmissions designed for GL-4 onward

That's not really true though. A motor is an electrically operated object, too, but a solenoid is not a motor.

Re: EGR valve discussion

A solenoid is a bit like a relay, except that solenoids are used for mechanical actuation - controlling a valve, or opening the locking pin on a door, etc. while relays obviously act as an electrical switch. Like all valves, EGR valves need a method of actuation, something to open or close them. Cou...

Re: 3rd/Third Gear problem M/T

As for changing the oil, I can offer some insight as I recently changed mine 3 times within a couple of months... First, go get a 24mm ring spanner if you haven't got one. You won't get a 24mm socket and ratchet in between the gearbox and the subframe to undo the drain plug. Trust me. Second, get on...

Re: Rotor upgrade/replacement

My rear brakes are pretty much useless atm as the pads are worn unevenly due to being sent the wrong pads, so they don't match the rotors properly. I got Bendix pads as that's what Sparesbox stocks. Performance wise not too sure, I used to get a bit of pull while braking (even with even tyre pressur...

Re: Potentially damaged wheelbearing?

So I also thought I would be smart and see if I could hear any noise even at low speeds, to try to work out which wheel it was. I put the car on jack stands and put it in first gear so the wheels could spin. After about 5 seconds the ASC/ABS lights come on, which I figured, okay, that's to be expect...

Re: Potentially damaged wheelbearing?

So I pulled my wheels off and I guess my alignment is a lot worse than I thought. Lots of uneven wear on the front tyres. Would this cause the noises? Or has the bad alignment damaged my wheel bearing?
