Merlin Tuning - Brisbane April 2017

Good morning Lancer fans. I have had a few enquiries for a Brisbane tuning trip and now is the time to open a thread. So, send or post your interest here and we will get it organised. No dates set as yet, but it will likely be an April weekend. Not the Easter weekend or the last weekend! Let me know...

Re: Vrx Or Ra

A well tuned RA will see better eco than a stocker and you will be getting a much safer car in my opinion. Why safer, AWD as against FWD is always going to be a safer option. Then there is the added power, which means you spend a lot less time on the wrong side of the road when passing on 2 lane cou...

Re: 1974 GSR Lancer

I had a 4.6 diff in my red LA Lancer and ventilated alloy rear drums off a Toyota Crown (if I remember correctly).

Wish I still had that car.

And I remember Kenjiros Lancer, probably from some Southern Cross rally.

Re: What is a GT?

Thanks Darryl, now that you mention it I remember that from years ago.

Remember the Galant GTO from the early 70's? That was a cool car.
I knew a guy with a 2.5 litre version of that and it was awesome.

Re: Mod ideas and tips

Well yes, some. But the mods I listed are the main factors.

In the exhaust system the CAT is the weakest point.

Re: Mod ideas and tips

For power mods, there are some significant gains to be had with the following: 1. 200 cell CAT. The stocker is the biggest restriction to the overall airflow. 2. RA snorkle. The stocker is weird and somewhat restrictive. The RA also does not have any resonator/damper feature. 3. Cosworth or TOG air ...

Re: Rest in peace SAM-24A

My dear friend Sam Lentini, taken from us all and we will miss him tremendously.

And it was only two weeks ago we were chatting - there were no short chats with Sam - and making plans for some new Lancer mods.

I miss you already my friend, Rest in Peace.

Re: RA vs NA?

I wish we had an SST in the Evo8 at Pikes Peak this year, they are so much faster than manual. Great fun in the twisties.

Re: RA vs NA?

I mean thats with pump 98. 4B11s make more power than 4G63s, mod for mod. And they will run leaner.

Ralliarts are a great car, I just think they need the Evos brake package.
Which, considering how you can virtually bolt on all the EvoX goodies, ought to be a high priority upgrade.
