Got this idea because I work at a door company. Maybe cover the grill/any exposed area with fiberglass mesh? Theyre readily available from bunnings.

Yeah I'm in Western Sydney and it's been terrible. The wind took the colorbond off my garage and granny flat as they are connected. The fibro ceiling of the flat also collapsed due to the water.
