Handbrake works on its own little brake drum on the inside of the rear disc. It will not be affected by the ABS. If you just pull Gently on the handbrake you should be fine. Make sure no one is behind you when you do it.

Have you thought about diff ratios ? There may be a difference between two.

There must be a difference in the front floor pan...the floormats are different between an auto/cvt/sst and a manual.Maybe worth finding a manual car and get them side by side and have a good look.Good luck with it.
