An act of God is a legal term for events outside human control, such as sudden floods or other natural disasters, for which no one can be held responsible. As I said, unless you can prove negligence (good luck) you have no case. I know this isn't a natural disaster, but it still comes under the term...

Your example is different billy, it refers to faulty equipment, in your scenario, the company is 100% liable as you used their equipment correctly (I'm assuming).
