I know the wire you are talking about in relation to the Kenwood stereo allowing you to make use of the steering wheel controls without another box. What cables have you used to connect the Kenwood to the stock wiring? My cj vrx did a similar thing, was hunting idle at the lights - gave the MAF sensor a clean with the proper MAF sensor cleaning spray and also cleaned the throttle body and it sorted it out in no time. this did happen after installing a K&N filter to replace the shitty paper on i had in there, ...

Just about to reach 88,000. As mentioned i took it in about a month ago to do my 90k servicing. Not sure if that is part of the service im assuming it aint cause i had to tell them about the issue and they just cleaned out the sensor.
