I don't think you can physically lock the car if the key is inside.I know remotely it won't as once my wife left her key/bag in the car and we couldn't figure out why the system refused to lock. You should tell them you don't want the car. They sold you a vehicle they knew was faulty.

If your car is insured, keep it insured until the cheque clears. That way if something goes wrong at least you can report it stolen and claim it through insurance.
