Michael is right - the air comes from somewhere and so if the EGR is not supplying inert gas to fill the cylinder, then more air will be drawn via the intake - this would be metered air though, but the fuel map and spark map would be still be mapped expecting exhaust.. That would have triggered a co...

Hi Krystal,

Just curious how this ended up (or if it's still an issue)?

The brake pedal switch drives the brake lights -I'll find it in the workshop manual and link you. http://www.clubcj.net/workshop/SEARCH/2008/35/html/M135100090098500ENG.HTM See the stop lamp switch? If that's loose, it could go on and off.. but there's also a possible loose connection or bad ground ...

Check out the switch that is near the brake pedal, if that's loose or making poor contact, it'll flick.

More info needed on the nature of the flicking (poor contact or strobe).

I now recall an issue with my brakes when the car was less than 18 months old. I was driving on the highway (110km/hr) and gently braked for the upcoming 80km/hr zone like I did every day in that part of the road. The brakes didnt work and I pushed them harder which suddenly engaged the ABS (I thin...

Thanks Krystal for that test. I did hope the fuse would show an open solenoid in the ABS module bypassing brake fluid and had hoped removing power would result in a fix, but it is possible that the path is still open with the ABS module off.. As before, my suspicion is entirely on the basis that bra...

OK. .Some more digging and the spacing of the LCD seems different too.. the red ones have more plastic between the RPM gauge and the LCD..
I'm curious.. but not $130 curious..
You'd never get rid of a red one..

I can't confirm. I did take a good look around at clusters online for ASX and Lancer. For all the color ones, the RPM gauge has a distinctive styling to the upper RPM band compared to that of the non color display. I checked outlander as well (not that I am saying they are or are not compatible with...

Pull the power off the ABS module and see if it happens. I made a suggestion some time ago that this could perhaps be a solenoid sticking open, would would result in a fast return path for brake fluid at one of the wheels (i.e. brake fluid goes out and straight back). Since this is not pressurised t...

Sounds simple enough to me. Find desired USB ports from wreckers or ebay with plastic. Find suitable 12V supply (cigarette lighter). Buy suitable voltage regulator to provide 5V, and components required (capacitors, diode). Create Circuit on PCB and test. Wire into car, fit to suitable location. Fin...

See if you can answer some of my questions in the edit. Escalate as a complaint to Mitsubishi Australia. I assume you've had your services done at the dealer (given you are still going there), so that would work in your favour. Here's another helpful post in this thread: http://clubcj.net/viewtopic....

From your other post: I drive a 2010 Lancer ES. Its just about to tick over 30,000km. Have they diagnosed it as the ABS module, and quoted the repair? Given it's a 2010 model, there is a possibility Mitsubishi will assist with the repair.. However I wonder what Mitsubishi's stance is - Do they consi...

also. air can become trapped in the ABS unit as well. this is possible if the master cylinder has been replaced. you may want to ask if Mitsubishi have a special bleed method for their ABS units. on some vehicles they require a diagnostic tool to properly cycle them. No bleed tool necessary (FYI) -...

A thought..... If the ABS module had a fault that caused one of the solenoids to latch open, this I THINK could cause that symptom..? I wonder if the brake fluid through the dealer servicing was actually done too.. (dealer charged you but never did it, or never bled at the wheels). If so, a good tes...

I'm thinking master cylinder based on your comments...

But the fact that's already been done confuses things.

If they replaced the booster but not a check valve or something then that would cause the issue to remain..

A confusing and interesting issue!
