Re: Fuse Box

Makes sense Mitsubishi having none in the country. There's a part number as it comes with the car, but they're super generic. It would be like ordering H1 or H4 headlight bulbs using the part number from Mitsubishi, although they probably do have those in stock since you go through more of them. Kee...

Re: EGR valve discussion

When my EGR valve got stuck open pretty much nobody knew what it was, even Mitsubishi took a week finding the issue. The young mechanics were relying on the fault codes, which basically all got triggered. It was right before Christmas, so after pestering them the head guy he said he'll look at it an...

Re: EGR valve discussion

I'm happy to be a test bunny as well! Was it ever worked out which Lancers actually have EGR valves?

Re: What engine oil do YOU use?

Penrite recommends HPR 0 0w-30 for the post 2013 2.0 L Lancers'. Anyone using it? I know Penrite is great oil but 0w is fairly light.

It will probably be made at Nissan's Taiwan plant, and be based on the same platform as the Nissan Altima.

Re: is this worth it?

Can't remember how much I paid for mine from Mitsubishi, but it wasn't as much as $165. Definitely a necessary changeover though!

Re: What DONT you like about your Lancer?

2.4 ltr motor should be offered as an alternative on lower spec vehicles and direct injection should already be there. Direct injection does have disadvantages. They should have made the 4J12 (improved 4B12) standard in countries that don't have engine size limitations in the 2013 makeover, and 4J1...

Re: Which jumper leads should I buy for my lancer?

The Mitsubishi battery is only 285 CCA or something (it's high 200 something, can't remember exactly though!). Obviously this is enough to start the car, but it isn't exactly high capacity. It also doesn't appear to be calcium battery which is better on fluid, so the batter will probably dry before ...

Re: Stop seat belt chime ????

If you have something on the passenger seat and have it clipped in, the airbags could go off in an accident. These will not be covered by insurance.

Re: EOI: SA Merlin tuning trip July/August 2017

I got mine done last year, I love it! I have done one or two mods since though, others may be in a similar position in particular those with older tunes. I am also curious how the New Zealand 4B11's have variable valve lift and we don't. They even advertise that it has it on the NZ website. Differen...

Re: EOI: SA Merlin tuning trip July/August 2017

Reason why I asked about any different tuning is that if there are improvements there may be a lot of interest in a retune from different members with older tunes or who have done mods since, or improvements with specific ROM variations. Of course, then there's the issue of cost and whether the chan...

Re: LED Low and High beam

For headlights don't get ones that are too blue. If you go too blue you will get defected anyway, but many of those ultra-white lights have a blue tinge. Keep in mind that you will be using your headlights at night, and blue light at night is actually bad for you (google it!). Ideally you would use ...

Re: Avoid Mars Performance like the PLAGUE!

Bumpers shouldn't shatter, I doubt it would meet Australian design requirements. It could be the plastic responds to crash tests when new, but perishes in sunlight like any non-UV stabilised plastic.

Re: Coolant Change - What do you normally do ?

The difference in the logevity of those blue coolants is probably the age. They have improved a lot in recent years, the concentrate is probably old stock if people are opting more for the user friendliness of premix. There are two that are under the Nulon Lube guide recommendations, the 8 year/500,...
