Re: Mitsubishi recalls 500,000 cars in AU

Just back from the recall service. Just to recap, mine's an early MY10 Lancer Sportback. Took 3.5 hours for the following from the service invoice : 1. Inspected and replaced ETACS ECU with a countermeasured part; 2. Applied specified grease to the connector pins of both the turn/light and wiper/was...

Re: Mitsubishi recalls 500,000 cars in AU

Called the dealer's service department first thing this morning, and got an appointment for 8:30am this Thursday.

They said the work in my case (early MY10 Sportback) would involve changing out the ECU and turn signal stalk, and all up would take about 4 hours.

Looks good to me.

After 5 years of freeway driving my bonnet has a lot of stone chips, and that's with a bonnet protector.

I stopped bothering to use touch up paint after the first 10 :) they happen almost daily.

Unless something has changed, Mitsubishi commence manufacturing new model Lancers at the beginning of August each year, and we see them here in late September/October.

So with luck we should see the MY16 model Lancer here in the next month or so.

Same MY, same pooling, paint treatment from new with Toughseal and washed with their wash & wax, however no sign of rust.

I wonder if that aspect is due to your location near the sea?

Any rust anywhere else?

My car matched the VIN#s that were provided and also is a 2010 modile & I never got the letter? And I called 2 of the Sydney Dealers & they told me they cant do anything until I received the recall letter? Sounds like theyre just too lazy?? :/ I suggest you contact Mitsubishi Motors Austral...

I've been told by a dealer they don't stock the parts, the dealers have to order the parts from MMA for the specific vehicle, and when they arrive I go onto a list for the work to be done. I assume they're doing this due to the volume of vehicles affected vs. having to do their day to day servicing ...

Got my letter yesterday. You'd think any signs of belt wear would be detected during routine services, whether by authorised Mitsubishi service centres or reputable service centres/stations? My last two services by PM here in Victoria lists belt check and adjust tension as required. I'll look at get...

Mine's a MY10 and I've given up being fussed about stone chips - too many to keep up with touch up paint. I've got headlight and bonnet protectors, but the latter doesn't do a heck of a lot to protect the bonnet. And I drive 50 minutes on a freeway each way each day to work, so you'd think the road ...

You can buy the Toughseal stuff yourself and do it. Mine was done in 2009 and it still looks like new, and bird crap & bugs don't stick. It does have a much better shine and the colour appears deeper than others the same. First it was their step 1 & 2 pre-treatment and sealant, and since the...

To be honest, it just sounds like your air filter cover/box might have been put on loosely. Exactly what's happened to me the last two times the car has been serviced. It's not readily apparent if the filter or case hasn't been fitted correctly i.e. you can't necessarily see or feel anything wrong....

Yep been eyeing that one for a while now Damien. But if it is available in Aus for the Pajero it might be a bit cheaper. Got the same Sportback badge as you from japan parts as well as a new centre console lid, the split lid type. Found ones similar here on eBay after I bought it for cheaper, darn ...

I bought one not long after buying the car in 2009 (yes, that blank plate bugged me). Ofey got it from JDM, but I can't recall what I paid. It has been wired up to a switch on the dash, and can be switched on when the fogs are on i.e. I can have it on or off when the fogs are on. http://www.japanpar...

90,000km service

I've hunted through threads here and elsewhere and have ended up with conflicting info, hence this question. My manual transmission MY10 VRX is due for the 90,000km service. With this service, is the timing belt/chain replaced? My dealer's service centre says the 90k service will cost around $1500 (...
