Re: How to kill a 4B11 engine
I'm assuming not having it serviced for 40k km voided the warranty?

Re: Windscreen washer pump dead?
Thanks
I found it a bit tight to get to the pump off the tank, but in the end had too as I could not unhook the power lead. Only removed the tank to check for leaks, and clean it. Much easier to do once off the car.
Might top up the tank right now an see if there is a puddle in the morning LOL

Re: Checks prior to a long drive
Did a 10,000 km trip back in May/June which included crossing the Nullarbor, it was winter so kinder for the car than the 40plus temps some part of the country is having now. I did most of the things here, was considering a drive belt but the only advantage there is if you know how to fit it, but it...

Re: WINDOW TINTING
Thanks for the info, got my VRX front windows tinted here in QLD right after I got it. Saved a packet not having to do the others. Got the darkest legal and it cost me about $200!

Re: Windscreen washer pump dead?
If you need to replace it take loads of photos. A while back I had a pump/tank issue, there was a leak when filled over half way. Spent time taking it apart (more on that later) and found the grummet was leaking, replace it but the leak was still their. I checked the bottle without the pump and no l...

Re: Horn installer in VIC
I agree any airhorn will need a rely and fuse, I was talking lessor horns like the ones I got which are still working fine after almost 4 years installed. It all depends on the wiring requirements. So yes I agree check the specs and if in doubt talk to an auto electrician.

Re: Bucket seats
We drove for around 10 hours some days, probably stopping every 1-2 hours, even if it was just for a few minutes on the side of the road. Put it this was the built in dash warning for a coffee break didn't come up very often, a hand full of times for the whole trip.

Doing the 10k km interstate road trip back in May and never had an issue with the seats in my VRX, when it comes to comfort.

Re: A/C compressor worth replacing?
One tip, if they say it just needs a gas top up get a 2nd opinion, been told too much gas is just as bad. Got an old Isuzu where I volunteer and it works great for a time then it frosts up so much the airflow is affected, only solution is to turn off the AC and let it defrost for a few minutes. Need...

Re: 2009 Lancer Vehicle Speed Sensor
I've got a BT OBD2 to connect to my Android HU, I think the software can also display fault codes, but I've never used it for that. Don't think it can reset fault codes though, maybe there is an app I can get?

Re: Quiet tyres
All good options if you have the time and knowhow!
I've got use to it, sometimes it makes for a better road trip as you have an excuse why you didn't here a passenger say something

Re: Horn installer in VIC
As long as it doesn't need more power, like an air horn then the stock wiring does have a fuse so if it overloads it should blow the fuse first right?

Re: Quiet tyres
Don't know how they compare but I've got the RE003 from Bridgestone on my VRX (225/40R18) there should be a R16 size to suit, mine cost $209 each so not the cheapest if you don't get the 4th FREE.
In the pic below I used them on a trip back in May.

Re: Ralliart P0365 CEL
Unfortunately lately I've only been able to do small runs, maybe 10-15 min a trip. Planning a day trip up the coast in the new year.
Will add before I fixed a wiring mistake with the DC it did drain the battery to much and after 3 days I needed a jump.
