Re: When will I need new Brake Pads?

Okay just inspected all the rotors and measured them, aprox 25mm front and 10mm rear, so I'm thinking they have never been machined. I did note they are all smooth with no lip BUT the front left (passenger) does have some slight ripples, not very much but slightly more than the other front. If neede...

Re: Video on how to remove A pillar interior trim

You shouldn't need to remove them. I just poked the cable in the edge and it should stay. Now I used to run them up the windscreen side and along the trim at the top to the centre of the car, leaving just enough to plug it in. So start from the camera. When we put in the hardwire kit he said you can...

Re: When will I need new Brake Pads?

Is that the DBA 'kangaroo paw' slotted rotors? Yeah pads first when needed but I'd like to do the lot together. BTW looks as the front rotors are not bad, some light imperfections like record rings but no lip on the edge. I'll get out my digital caliber to measure them this morning to see if they ha...

LED tail lights with Running Lights

Has anyone got these? They have built in running lights, I assume like DRLs but for the rear which kinda makes sense. https://www.cdnclouds.net/p/323f15b3706a6d1eef13-8c9663dd166c48220e6c3c05e98322fe.r70.cf2.rackcdn.com/4d78137aef01e83c3850ef97a1aa0324_2.jpg https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/LED-Tail-Ligh...

Re: Brake Rotor/Pads Recommendations?

When I got my CJ used the dealer checked on some Kumho KU39s, not bad but I do think the RE003s are better and quieter but they do cost $209 each, I got mine on a 4 for 3 deal.

Really depends on how much you want to spend.

Re: When will I need new Brake Pads?

Rule is stop if its safe to, others think Amber = put the right foot down! Okay 99% of the time I keep and eye on traffic when getting to lights, know whats there and if its safe to stop, in this case the car following be pulled off, the light change and I stopped. Not hard or with ABS kicking in, I...

Re: When will I need new Brake Pads?

So its likely the first owner could have done them as it had 85k on it when I got the CJ. Still need to talk to the dealer aka the extended warranty. As far as I know brakes are not a part of the agreed services and I can do them else where... like my garage :) Might end up doing the pads then new r...

Re: Brake Rotor/Pads Recommendations?

Unless you can test tyres back to back its hard to judge which is truly best, thats why they have tyre tests in magazine (remember those) and online. But it also depends on the car they are fitted to, a tyre that works on a small car might not work on a big sedan or wagon.

Re: When will I need new Brake Pads?

Would dealers use them when doing the work or something else like Bendix?

Are the stock pads any better worse?

Re: When will I need new Brake Pads?

Ok so it depends on what you want, could be cheaper to just get a new set, depending on their value. If the stock rotors are still ok I don't plan on binning them, I'll hang on to them if they are needed later or by the next owner. Anyone know what the dealers usually use or if there is a brand name...

Re: When will I need new Brake Pads?

Okay so had some time to kill before an appointment so dropped into a few places. Mitsubishi - $410 ($225F/$185R) didn't ask about fitting. JAX - $370 fitted using Bendix (high quality ones?) Repco - $170 for the Bendix pads (about $85 each end) Repco also has the Kangaroo Paw DBA rotor but over $70...

Re: When will I need new Brake Pads?

Thanks for the links. I'll keep them in mind. Silly question, the CJ like most production cars has solid rear rotors, not vented. Yes I know they do less work but are there any vented (not drilled) options that fit? If I had unlimited funds than some genuine Brembo calibers all round wound be nice, ...

Re: When will I need new Brake Pads?

Wouldn't surprise me. So how many kays have others done on one set of pads from new? Like I said not sure if the previous owner put pads in, it was about 5yo and 75k on the ODO when I got it, now 135k and closing in on 10yo. I'll get some quotes, make sure doing the pads/rotors DIY doesn't void any ...
