Re: When will I need new Brake Pads?

The OEM pads seem to last a long time 80 to 90k is what we are seeing on customers cars. My wife’s VRX has 70k on it and there is about 2mm of wear. I’d say we’ll get 100k out of them.
I would think the dealer would use genuine pads so it fits in with their parts/repair warranty

Re: When will I need new Brake Pads?

You can machine slotted rotors. It is a very time consuming job as it takes about 5 or 6 passes on the brake lathe. A standard rotor you can do on one pass if it isn’t warped too much

Re: When will I need new Brake Pads?

Probably 3 months. You should be able to see the edge of the pad through the spokes of the wheel. The wear on the inner pad will be about the same as the outer pad.

Re: When will I need new Brake Pads?

General rule of thumb is when the friction material is the same thickness as the backing plate it's time to replace them. Just touching on brake pads,Bosch and TRW pads are basically dust generators.SCA cheaper pads are garbage.Bedix pads are the best value for money, not very dusty, quiet and long we...

Re: Brake Rotor/Pads Recommendations?

We use DBA or RDA rotors and bendix pads when replacing brakes on our customers cars. The cheaper rotors have a tendency to warp if you give them a hard time. Bendix pads are priced competitively and are long lasting and reasonably dust free.TRW and Bosch pads produce heaps of brake dust so you are f...

Re: VRX wheels on an ES Lancer

I’ve seen a couple of Lancers without the body kits and VRX wheels and they look fine. It really isn’t necessary to upgrade your suspension but that’s up to you:)
